Enter an amount in any bitcoin unit to see it in all the others, and its value in dollars.
The smallest unit of bitcoin is the satoshi, named after its creator. One bitcoin is 100,000,000 satoshis, so one satoshi is 0.00000001 BTC. There are also two in-between units: the millibitcoin, mBTC, is a thousandth of a bitcoin, and the microbitcoin, called a bit or µBTC, is a millionth of a bitcoin and equals 100 satoshis.
A single bitcoin is worth tens of thousands of dollars, so people often deal in small fractions. Prices, fees and tips are often quoted in satoshis, and transaction fees are quoted in satoshis per byte. Counting in satoshis avoids long strings of decimals. The total supply of bitcoin is capped at 21 million, which is 2.1 quadrillion satoshis.
To see the dollar value, enter the current bitcoin price. The value of an amount is the number of bitcoins times the price. For example, 100,000 satoshis is 0.001 BTC, which is 60 dollars at a price of 60,000. The calculator shows each unit as an exact figure, so you can copy it straight into a wallet or an exchange form.
