Enter your holdings and target percentages to see how far you are from your plan and how to rebalance.
Your allocation is the share of your portfolio held in each asset. A plan might be 50% Bitcoin, 30% Ethereum and 20% other coins. As prices move, the shares drift away from the plan, and the winners take a bigger part of the portfolio and with it more of the risk. Rebalancing means buying and selling to bring the shares back to your targets.
Enter the current value of each holding in dollars and the percentage you want it to be. The calculator adds up the holdings, shows each asset’s current share, and compares it with the target. The amount to buy or sell is the target share of the total, minus the current value. The target percentages should add up to 100%, and the calculator warns you if they do not.
If you enter new money, the calculator treats it as part of the portfolio and works out the total after you add it. Some assets will then show a buy and some a sell. If you would rather not sell, put all the new money into the assets that are below their target, in proportion to how far below they are. Fees and taxes on selling are not included, so check them before you rebalance.
It is buying and selling assets so that each one returns to its target share of the portfolio.
Many investors rebalance on a schedule, such as every quarter or year, or when an asset drifts a set amount from its target, such as 5 percentage points.
Yes. Otherwise the plan does not describe a whole portfolio, and the calculator will show a warning.
