Calculate a weighted course grade from assignment scores, or find the grade needed on a final exam to hit a target.
Each item's score is multiplied by its weight, those are all summed, then divided by the total weight: Overall = Σ(score × weight) / Σ(weight). A 20%-weight exam affects your grade four times as much as a 5%-weight homework assignment.
Your overall grade is a mix of your current grade (over the non-final portion) and the final exam (over its weight): Desired = Current × (1 − finalWeight) + Required × finalWeight. Rearranging that for Required gives the score you need on the final.
The weighted calculator still works — it normalizes by whatever total weight you entered, so partial course grades (like just the first half of a semester) are fine.
Enter scores as percentages. See our GPA Calculator if you're working with the 4.3 letter-grade scale instead.
