Find a commission, a commission rate or a sales price, or work out a tiered commission with a base amount and rates that change with sales.
Give any two values and the calculator finds the third, and shows the steps.
For commissions that include a base amount, or that pay different rates at different sales levels. Leave the last "To" box empty if there is no upper limit.
A basic sales commission is a percentage of the sale. Multiply the sales price by the commission rate to get the commission. If you know the commission and the rate, divide the commission by the rate to find the sales price. If you know the commission and the sales price, divide the commission by the sales price to find the rate. Fill in any two values in the first calculator and it shows the answer with the working.
Many pay plans use tiers, so the rate changes as sales grow. In a tiered plan each rate applies only to the part of the sales inside its range. With 3% on the first 20,000 and 5% above that, a 200,000 sale earns 3% of 20,000 plus 5% of the remaining 180,000. A tier can also be a flat dollar amount, which is paid once when sales reach that tier. Enter the upper limit of each tier and its commission, and leave the last upper limit empty for no cap.
Some plans add a base commission on top, either a fixed amount or a percentage of the whole sale. Turn on the base commission option and enter the amount. It is added to whatever the tiers earn. If the commission does not change with the sale price, choose No for the varying option and enter a single rate or amount. The result lists each part of the commission and the total.
Multiply the sales price by the commission rate as a decimal. A 3% commission on a 200,000 sale is 200,000 times 0.03, which is 6,000.
The sales are split into ranges, and each range has its own rate. The commission is the sum of what each range earns. Only the part of the sale inside a range is paid at that range rate.
A base commission is an amount paid on top of any other commission, either a fixed dollar amount or a percentage of the sale price. It is added to the tiered or fixed commission.
A tier set in dollars pays that flat amount once the sale reaches into the tier. It does not grow with the part of the sale inside the tier.
Divide the commission by the sales price and multiply by 100. Enter the sales price and the commission and leave the rate empty.
